Cogeneration is a thermodynamically efficient use of fuel. In separate production of electricity, some energy must be discarded as waste heat, but in cogeneration this thermal energy is put to use.
Cogeneration of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) from wood is now achievable with Frolings new CHP. Giving 100kW of heat output and 50kW of electrical output, this containerised pre commissioned unit has already generated alot of interest with its proven technology and strong renewable incentives.
The gasification of wood and as a result the production of wood gas, is a thermo-chemical, multi stage transformation process, similar to wood combustion. As opposed to combustion however, the gasification process is interrupted intentionally in order to get not only carbon dioxide and water but also combustible gas which is transformed into electricity and heat by a gas engine.
